uniden pc 244 extra channel switch?

uniden pc 244 extra channel switch?
I found my late fathers Uniden pc244 last night. From what I understand these are nice radios. it has an extra switch on the side for extra channels I'm assuming but the switch is floppy no positive click either way. I powered the radio from a power supply here in the house, but I have no dummy load or base antenna (I rent)and its 20deg outside so no way I'm going out in my rig. I guess what I'm asking is can the switch be replaced, and can a freq counter be installed? I'm no repairman. this radio means the world to me, if someone says it can be repaired i would obviously pay to have it done.

The switch can be replaced. Can't tell from the pic exactly what type it is. And as far as a Frequency. I'm guessing there is no jack on the back of the radio. Me personally, I would go with the Dosey FC 50s. The "s" indicates use for side band. Check out GI Joes, he has some great deals. [Please login or register to view this link]

yes the switch is easily replaced. frequency counter addition is also a pretty easy straight foreword job as well. i have been trying to get my hands on a uniden pc244 for years and years, it was my first radio as a kid. they are rare now for some reason. when they do show up, some one has already put their hands in it (mods) unfortunately. good luck with that one.
