Re: Favorite used cb/cbssb base radio
This is a typical post, I only added to it a second time thinking maybe the original poster would return, but alas he is like many one hit wonder song writers, who knows if he even bought a radio.

Re: Favorite used cb/cbssb base radio
I can imagine it is typical... Not many use CBs any more. Kind of sucks.
On a side note. I'm slowly getting my base station setup but have a little ways to go. I did run across a used President Washington about 40 minutes from my house for 200 bucks. If he comes down to 150 I may go check it out.

Cash is King! Go flash a hand full of it in his face, and I'll bet he drops the price faster than you can hand it to him!SuperDave4x4 wrote: December 25th, 2018, 7:46 pm I can imagine it is typical... Not many use CBs any more. Kind of sucks.

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

That's the way I got my President Washington, Cobra 142 GTL, Galaxy 2517.
Most of my gear I have acquired from Amazon or E-bay and most
transactions have been very positive.
Did get one, or two, boat anchors but mostly good stuff.

I may send him a message and see what he knows about it. There isn't a mic in the picture and the ad doesn't mention anything about it. I really need to get my antenna setup in the attic first.

Re: Favorite used cb/cbssb base radio
The Realistic TRC-450 has a built in speech processor, one of the only few CB's that had one. Its sounds GREAT ON SSB due to this fact. This is likely the best purpose built CB I have owned, still have it, can't seem to part with it. Still in Stock form, never had a reason to MOD it.
Not to be confused with the TRC-451 as it does NOT have a speech processor.

Re: Favorite used cb/cbssb base radio
For ssb get a ham radio. Older Icoms Yaesus etc at A hamfest are a great buy. Just make sure it's easy to get on cb freqs. LOL some just have an internal switch like the FT757.

Re: Favorite used cb/cbssb base radio
Have had many ham rigs...favorite was either an Icom 735 or a Yaesu 980.
Great filtering and ssb audio. For AM talking a Magnum S9 or a Stryker.
I like modified Cobra 29's if I'm driving something with it. Can be made
to sound very big and clean.
