Re: Input watts for Amp.
I agree, rm italy amps are VERY low drive units. 2w input carrier and 15w pep is the absolute max i would put into it
Re: Input watts for Amp.
I have the KL503. And my radio is set at 1 watt DK swinging to about 12. Make sure not to volt it out.

What radio is this that swings to 42w? BTW I agree with everyone else, 2W max input DK no more than 15W PEP.Robj717 wrote: December 13th, 2018, 3:50 pm I'm not too keen on all the technical aspects of this as I'm still learning..

Re: Input watts for Amp.
I have played with many kl-203. i even did a mosfet swap on my buddies.
most like a 1 watt key and some like a 1 1/2 watt key. very few liked 2 watts. at that point they really start to get warm and dirty.
i find running them at about 75-80% of it output power produced best results.

Re: Input watts for Amp.
I agree with who ever said 1 to 2 watt carrier swinging 15. If you look inside to see what transistors it has, google the data sheet. That will tell you how much input it will handle each. I think the 2879s are rated at 10 watts each. Meg 455s and 454s are lower.?
On the other hand! Lol
I drive 4 2879s with 80 pep at 21 volts. Have been for a few years without a problem.
Sounds crazy right?
