I have no clue at this time, best answer from me would be to drop the wattage to 2w and let it go at that.

I reality the receiving radio won't see much of a signal loss by dropping the wattage on this radio to 2 watts. Since it is one of the new single mosfet designs, it will benefit from the lower wattage, you will hear a slight modulation increase and slightly more AM swing.
