I just got a DM-452 echo mic, and it works fine with the linear off, but when I turn it on, all I hear is loud distorted weird sounds. Anybody know what to do?

turn down the mic gain inside of the mic, or mic gain on the radio,,,your getting amp feedback

I tried that, it still wont work. Is it possibly defective?
