SSB frequency
I get asked a lot how to check SSB with an inline counter.
I use this method to see if radio is on frequency:
Set CB radio to 27.2050 Ch 20 27.2050
Inject a pure 1Khz tone at mic socket key the radio then your counter can read it at the antenna socket
You should see 27.2040 on LSB and 27.2060 on USB.

Re: SSB frequency
That is the way I've been doing it. Download a couple different tones from different sites, some do have a slight variation. I have 1kc and 440hz in the library. I use iTunes to play them and just hold the mic close to the computer speaker. At least it gets the radio in the ballpark.

Re: SSB frequency
I've used this as a quick test but are you using this method to align the radio?

Re: SSB frequency
By no means is it used as an alignment but like I said,

This way only does the transmit and is better than the "out of the box" 2 to 3kc off from the factory. To do the receive you have to have a good ear and listen to a known station that is on frequency to center up the clarifier. Nothing beats a proper alignment with real test equipment.MDYoungblood wrote: At least it gets the radio in the ballpark.

Re: SSB frequency
Ok ... I use about the same method as previously posted only I set mine on 27.205 and set lower at 27.2035 - with upper at 27.2065 or 1.5 offset - I find this puts my Voice Lock at very close to 12 o'clock with 95% of the stations out there ... With +/- 3 mhz of slide tuning in is easy.
