Off frequency on TX
Hi,
Recently I decided to install a Jetstream (part# JTCS3M) 3 position antenna switch which would allow me to take advantage of SSB on my Galaxy dx 949, the rfx 75 on my Cobra 29 ltd chrome, along with some of the noise toys on some much older radios I have purchased over the years.
I spoke into the mic of the Cobra 29ltd with the antenna switch selected for my Galaxy dx 949. I know, I know. Lesson learned. I'm totally disappointed, this was/is my favorite radio.
I replaced the burnt resistor at R55. I don't see any bad capacitors. Since I purchased this Cobra with a RFX-75 installed, it's tough to see any further immediate damage.
Anyone every speak into their radio without the coax attached and were able to repair the damage?

Re: Off frequency on TX
Been there, done that but never damaged the radio. Now the difference with my switch is it grounds the center pin and depending on the radio, the receive let’s me know I’m on the wrong position.

Re: Off frequency on TX
Ok. The Cobra 29 Ltd Chrome is back in working order. Along with replacing the burnt resistor at R55, I replaced a leaking 35V 220uF capacitor which had been installed at JP36 as part of the RFX-75 installation. The RFX-75 was part of what was included with the original purchase of this radio. I've been running this Cobra 29 Ltd, without any issues, as my base radio since purchase in 2008.
