Frequency Counter Hook-Up

I would like to hook up my Heathkit 1M-4100 to my Uniden Washington? How would I go about it? I have scope probes and a scope also but new to using this test equipment. Was learning on the job but the job is no longer thanks to CO-VID.

I'm afraid I can't help much, but I think on that one you can put a small whip antenna on the input BNC on the front, then transmit with your radio and it will read the frequency it's putting out. I would guess there's a way to connect the frequency counter to the radio's LO and read that, but you'd have to find some way to adjust for the actual operating frequency.

You could probably connect the probe to TP1 on the board and get a signal for frequency. That test point will show a frequency of 34+MHz so you will have to do some math and subtract 10.240 from it. Be careful here as it might be too much voltage for the counter, needs to be measured in mV. To get just a transmitted frequency, you could just make several wraps of coaxial center conductor (the BNC end to the counter) around the coax to the radio, there should be enough RF leakage to pick up a signal. This should read actual frequency.

Cool, if the signal seems weak just make a few more wraps.
