NS-450_BFM

I have this radio here and it squeals everytime it is turned on. I have looked over this radio several times and see nothing out of the way except a cap in R189 slot. The board is a9821R20, have not found anything on this board at all. Anyone have anything on this radio or board?

Hello Kosmic,
Welcome to CBRT. We will give it a shot. That radio is the same as a Stryker SR-450HP. It squeals as so as turned on, does the radio show it is transmitting with the squeal? Try unhooking the mic and see if it still squeals. If it stops it is a mic problem.

Greg it squeals as soon as you turn it on even without a mic conected. There is a cap in R189, was wondering if this is some kind of mod or a factory defect.
