Looks like Bill's Two Way is the only source right now.

If you need the chipswitch to do a frequency mod and can't get one it can also be done by changing the mixer crystal.

There is no more Chipswitches around and they quit making them too, so only way you can get one is buy a radio that has one already in it and swap them out if your radio is in better condition than that would be the only way or else buy one and use the one with it in it and retire the one you got.

When I talked to Doc at Doc's Electronics last week he had five left and that was it and he was asking $150.00 each and I got two so that leaves him down to to three chipswitches left. It would be worth a call to see if he has one left as you never know. The number is Direct xxxxxxxx number to Doc.

If all else fails I may sell either my Lincoln or HR-2600 soon and both have the chipswitch.

He cant get the blanks to make more copies. The chipswitch along with the 2510/2600/linc were/are great radios. Wonder why no one remakes them? A radio from 1988 that is still one of the best today.
As for the chipswitch look on the ham sites and you may find them. I recently scored two like new 2510s w/chipswt for $300 on a ham site. Needed to give my call sign for him to verify before he sent them. Need to snatch them up quick when you see them.

Bill at Bills 2 way has some now, and so do I.
I found some microprocessors and had Bill program them.
We both have been looking for blanks for years.

These are new microprocessors with Authentic Chipswitch programming.
I have some Sockets as well, and I can do installations and tuning.

Wow, great to see that the chipswitch is available again. Someone was asking me about these not so long ago. I need to look in my storage for any of Doc tuned 2510's and still in the tray 2879's or mrf477's I may have. BTW I just read that Doc passed? I remember it was you or Doc that was the 2510 masters. Glad to see you are still at it, awesome.

Are you still taking in radios, to be done? And $$ for chips & sockets if you have them.

Roger,
If you had a choice, which radio do you prefer? The 2510, 2600 or the 2830? The question is really regarding the better radio (if one stands out) and not one that can do100 mods. I am looking at them now. The only upgrade I will do is the chipswitch and tune.

Thanks!!
Larry

they all are old radios, the 2600 was the last us production model, Linclolns the last overseas model. the 2830.. one of the first overseas versions..so really old.
newer Lincolns had the MRF455 style final(some had a SDxxxx final). older had the MRF477 final. 2600 never had the 11m programming, always was a 10m radio. My favorite is still the 2510..any age., all had plusses and minuses.. many have been butchered and misused..
I know not much of a definitive answer, but i would say short of having blown finals(really hard to find these days), most are fixable, and still a great radio to have and use.

Wished these were available 10+ years ago, would have bought a handful of them. I don’t talk on radio anymore. On one hand it is cool to see, on the other still bummed I couldn’t get any when I really wanted one. I still have a 2510 with a chipswitch, and another I wanted to put one in and a few parts 2510's, but can’t justify the cost for something I do not use anymore. No use for one now, but they are great chips and especially loved the 2510 I used that had one in it, so much nicer than my 2510 without it.
