Inline SWR for Mobile
Would mounting a permanent SWR meter in my vehicle be a good idea, if so which one? Does it go between the antenna and the amp or the amp and the radio (I'm assuming the second one)?

Im sure you can search herre at CBRT and find lots of info on this topic.
The 11 meter band works well using 3 foot jumper sections. I would put a 3 foot between the radio and amplifier and put the swr meter between the amp and antenna.
This is just a quick reply but search and you will find more info here on CBRT !

"The 11 meter band works well using 3 foot jumper sections" What the reason for this?

Re: Inline SWR for Mobile
A permanent SWR meter would be a very good idea between the antenna and the amp. In the past I tested my SWR;'s in the mobile with an analyzer/meter. It read 1.1. Everyone was complaining that I was breaking up on the move. When the antenna moved around, the SWR's went way up. It was a bad lip mount. When I hooked the meter up when I was parked, it was fine but when I flicked the antenna, it jumped way up until it settled down. You need the SWR meter in line at all times in case something goes wrong to warn you to stop transmitting especially with an amp in line.
