Honestly I know this screams arguement, but if your wanting a radio with a freq counter, and maybe even a high power radio, have you ever looked into maybe a dual final radio with freq counter?
I understand what you all are saying about Bigger Radios out there....but Your talking to an old geezer on Social Security. I am doing fine with my Galaxy DX 959 right now. It is Dead Keying 1-2 watts & swinging 23-25 watts. Talked DX in Connecticut & New Jersey Today & had a blast. Reason I was asking about the Cobra 142 GTL is because I picked it up on E-Bay for $50.00 with Cobra Power Mike & was wondering what all could be done to it & if it could possibly be fixed to key more watts than my Galaxy DX 959 is doing? Also, Can more be done to it than the Galaxy What is your all opinions on the Cobra 142 GTL. Such as is it quieter & is the Receive better than my Galaxy, etc, etc. Thanks
I'll tell you the 142 is a good radio, extra channels can be added, Dail-A-Watts added(Sparktune) and made to swing its butt off, this is a great radio and will drive an amp well,,VR6 is Am power,,Modulation is VR7,,,the best think to do with any radio, is get it aligned,,,,and make it swing
