Wilson 5000 vs 2000
Is there much difference between the Wilson 5000 and the Wilson 2000 performance wise?
Thanks

My buddy had a wilson 1000, and upgraded to the 5000, but with the 5000 he could'nt get the SWR's down so he went back to the 1000. I dunno why he upgraded, he's only running 100watts. If you are running over 1000watts, I highly doubt you'd run it thru a wilson anyway, unless you had to.

I have both the 1k & 2k 10" trucker series. I've not compared to the 5k though...but would guess the above would be the case. And indeed I'd probably get it simply for the bit better ears. I hardly run either of mine though, as my Tiger MB-2 will out RX/TX the Wilson's I have by quite a bit.EC 174 wrote:I haven't used a 2000 before but I have been doing some testing with the 1000 VS 5000.. The transmit is not much different between them but the 5000 has a better receive..

That seems odd that he couldn't get the SWR's down on the 5000 to at least as good as the 1000 considering they use the same magnetMaverick wrote:My buddy had a wilson 1000, and upgraded to the 5000, but with the 5000 he could'nt get the SWR's down so he went back to the 1000. I was able to get my 5000 down as good if not better than than the 1000..
If the antenna will receive and/or perform better, then it doesn't matter how many watts you're doing, it's a good upgrade.. You can't talk to people you can't hear, so any receive gained is a good thing if you ask me
