The apartment I live in is in a very bad neighborhood, so anything outside, crackheads will steal. It has a 4 Foot overhang outside the window, and power lines right outside the window also. Sometimes I drive to the top of modulation mountain and mount the A-99 on the truck, otherwise there is nowhere to mount it inside the apartment unless it's half out the window at a 75 degree angle between the two power lines. My truck is somewhere else broke-down at the moment also, but even if it were here, the apt is too far away from where I park to run cable.....Pretty shi**y antenna situation. That's why I asked this question.

Yes I know how great they are. I just want to know if it's safe or not to run 500 watts thru it right above your head.

I wasn't asking if you can run 500w thru it safely, I has asking if you could run it right above you with that much power without going blind. RF radiation ir very powerful. Maybe i'm just weird, I get migraines when I'm near high wattage outputs.

It is absolutely NOT safe. If you want to run at that level you need to get an antenna outside and away from you.

Here is a calculator for rf safety....

A lot of you "big gun" guys could really use this information for your mobiles, too....................

You're welcome. Actually, it's good that you asked. You'd be surprised how many guys think RF is harmless and run thousands of watts in close proximity to themselves and others.
