I'm no PETA nut but I do not like to see animals mistreated. I believe you said that they had broke a verbal agreement which normally means the dog belongs to you. If it has been treated that bad they didn't want it any way.

Clearly those people aren't responsible enough to have animals. You did the right thing. By the looks of her I'd guess they won't even miss the dog.

I don't know how the law is in CA, but here in TX a verbal agreement can be held up in court.

I believe you did the right thing. She was definitely being neglected. It breaks my heart to see people do stuff like that to a dog. Especially a good dog such as a Lab.

Well I agree with what you did Thumper. The puppy did not deserve to be treated that way. Since the people broke the verbal agreement, and now you have the puppy, I would call and leave another message of what you did. That way they cannot call the authorities to report the puppy stolen. This would let the people decide whether they really want the puppy or not. If they do, I would tell them that agreement was still on but now that it is tax time I will need my money up front. This probably sounds twisted to you, but it will cover your crack in the event you are dealing with twisted people. I have two ex-wifes and know what twisted people are about.

You betcha, I think you did the right thing.
It's a crying shame how some people treat their animals. Bet they wouldn't like it!

By the way, GOOD FOR YOU......some folks would just let that go, maybe feel bad about it, but not do anything. We should all be proud to be associated with a man of integrity.

The right thing was done for the dog no doubt. The only thing I would wonder, is there a medical reason the dog is skinny. Some sick dogs will still eat like they are starving. I would talk to the people and ask them about medical problems, If you are unable to locate these people, take the dog to the Vet. If no medical problems, then you for sure did the right thing. If that is the case, keep the dog and turn those people into the local SPCA or your local Humane society.

The dog is yours until paid for. If the dog had been paid for already then you would have called animal control and let them handle it.

I'm proud of you bro. I woulda waited till they got home and shot um or at least crammed um in their own cage.

You most certainly done the right thing Thumper. As skinny as that poor pup is it looks like it has been several weeks since it had a decent meal. Individuals who abuse an animal deserve to be subjected to the abuse which they inflict.

You did the right thing Thumper!

I agree with Wind Breaker. Take her to the vet if you haven't already and get them to check and make sure she's alright and ain't got worms or anything else wrong with her.

My dad, along with being a mail man for the Post Office, is a distributor for Black Gold Dog Food. We sell 22 tons of dog food a month just out of my house when dad gets off of work in the evenings or when I'm home occasionally during the week or weekends. I've got 6 fox hounds myself and know a good little bit about dogs and dog food. If you ever have any questions, just let me know and I'll try and help as best I can.

I can't stand to see people mistreat a dog. 231 is right, they don't seem responsible enough to have a dog anyways.

Phaze would have shot em.
