Charging batteries in TRC-222

#55601

Post by Raven_PL »

Hi,

I'm looking for any info about charging system in walkie-talkie Realistic TRC-222. I've found info that Realistc charger (PN#21-516) is dedicated to this radio. I can't find it in Europe anywhere. Can You write what are output parameters of this charger? I have to find any substitute but I don't want to break batteries or whole radio.

Regards,
Pawel

Funny you should ask! I have been trying to locate the info on the output of the required charger for months now and since radio shack is TOTALLY USELESS!! i had to resort to a standard 12 volt 800 MA pwr supply for charging nicads it works but it will need to charge for about 24 hours.

However just yesterday i bought the specific charger recommended by realistic and the specs for the 21-516 charger are INPUT: 120 VAC 60 Hz 5W , OUTPUT:18 VDC 50 mA TIP POSITIVE Charge time 8 to 12 hours and do not charge beyond the point that the batteries start to get warm

I really hope this info helps since i understand it is widely UNKNOWN these days! You can now consider yourself among what seems to be the few and elite that have this information.

The dip-**Censored** at radio shack said to me and i quote "Why would you want to charge a CB no one uses Cb's anymore, You need to come into the 21st century, Can i interest you in a cell phone?"

That was the answer i got when i asked for a 21-516 charger or equivalent LOL!
but in a time when most people don't even know what a record player needle or a cassette tape is i suppose that is the level of service we can expect from these brain washed drones

GOOD LUCK with your trc-222 it is one of the finest handheld CBs ever produced especially if it says realistic on the front.

i own several of them
