Here's a simple antenna that you can make for it that will give you a dramatic improvement over the rubber duck I use one hanging from the ceiling in a second story apartment if you want to include 1 1/4 meters (220mhz) the radiator and radials are around 12 1/2 inches.

Thanks 4 the input Night Crawler.
I have bunch of repeaters in my area which I use and just for the fun of listening, I hook it to my base antenna :-)

was installing the radial kit on my imax2000 this afternoon and my neighbor walked over to chat, he asked what the antenna was for and i told him, he came back with a radio in hand saying his son used to be into the radio and left this hanging around, i looked at what it was and saw it was an rci 2950, i asked if he wanted to sell it, he said no, that i could have it if i wanted it. I couldnt thanks him enough, i used to have one when they came out but sold mine a while back. it needs a outside clean up but works well, im gonna wire up an astatic m6b i have hanging around.

A TM-V71A. Nice! Replaced a TM-V-708. Basically the same radio as a TM-V710 except no TNC, I don't need a TNC.

Hello.

Bought a Cobra 148 GTL ....yep made in Taiwan  ..for the DynaScan Corporation !

Here in the pic.. its connected to my Motorola R2001D ...and looking good.

Just need to undo some of the mods ..like the 7K slide on the clarifier and backward modulation on AM

Connected it up to the R2001 for some quick checks and its working fine.

No Mods done on this one...(just the 11 Meter one).. and no golden screwdriver

Will be playing with both the Cobra and the Ranger this weekend.

Off to search to find out how it can Display CB channels ...FUN

Hope to talk to dirtyjob via DX.. ranger to ranger this weekend.

nice catch Island :) I hope I am lucky enough to make a contact with you someday.

as far as the cb readout for the 2950 on mine all i had to do was press the "man" button the manual switch but i have found a mod that says it uses the lock button:

19-07-1998
CB Channel Readout Modification

Locate J1. There will be a jumper on pins P1-P2.

Remove jumper and place on P2-P3.

Press the LOCK button on the front panel. The readout will now display the CB channel number 1-40 -- also will display "A" channels.

Press LOCK again to return to VFO mode

Thanks dirtyjob.
The MAN button didnt bring it up..but the LOCK button did.
Nice..it displays the RC Channels too...like 3A 7A 11A 15A 19A ....

Also like that you have no freq
band switching.....all you do is spin the dial...

Bought a Cobra 148GTL, been tuning it up. Just bought a President Washington, the 2 button, before it was Uniden. I won't see it for 2 weeks, U am excited to get it! Now to get a meter that"ll measure true PEP, my DOSY test center ain't cutting it.

Congrats!!! Both are great radios. Even thought the President Washington predates Uniden bading it's still made by Uniden. When President was American Radio Corp they still had Uniden building the radios for them. I've grown to love those Uniden 858 PLL units like your Washington.
