Well today I finally scored a Gold Cobra 29 LTD Classic Gold Edition, It was born in the Philippines, October 1989. Its in perfect working order and non molested. It even has the factory mic & mount. All this fine business for the blistering high price of ......... Well, I can't tell you!
You would think I was nuts. Kinda hard to put a value on it, considering what I have seen them go for over the last few years. I have seen non working ones command well over $200. Anyways, I am one happy CBer tonight. Already took my beloved Cobra 25 out of line and retired it to its box. Sorry for the small pic, it was fast & off the ole cell phone.

Thanks mike, I have ONLY been search for 10 years for one I could get/afford. So some crafty foot work landed me this one. I know those reading say,,,,,I see them all the time. But non molested, and most importantly affordable to me!! I am so pumped. A few of the locals knew I was hunting for one. When I finally got on the air with it. I had to text a few of the guys pics with me in them so they believed me. LOL

Cool!! Those JB 200 type modulators are really going around right now, a local got two of them recently and I traded him out of one of 'em.

Today I picked up two EF Johnson 242-7184 UHF mobile radios. $15 total for both of them which is a steal of a deal.
I plan on using them for GMRS. I'm somewhat tempted to set up a repeater eventually. I've got more than enough radios for it now.

Not exactly "radio " equipment like this thread is used to but had to share this score.
All matched Sony component system from the early 90s in a SOLID Gusdorf cabinet and JVC speakers.
Total cost for all? Zip, Zero, Nada!
I need bigger speakers though as the amp in this system pushes these to their limit with the volume at about 4 LOL!
But my Iron Maiden, Dokken and Jackyl has never sounded better.
And I don't always listen to Black Sabbath, but when I do, so do my neighbors!!

I bought a uniden hr2600 from a friend the other day $75. Rescued a Uniden pc66 phillipennes and a cobra 19 from the trash. Got both the freebies working. 66 needed all the togle switches replaced because they were full of mud. No joke. I changed the final before i realized that the cb/pa sw. was trying to do both functions at the same time. The cobra 19 ultra 3 just needed a good cleaning. Had the spare parts for the 66 from radios that had been scraped for parts. Total investment about 3 hours of free time. And for the record I cant make myself get rid of a radio

Been awile since I stopped in here. Since then I ran across a Kenwood TS 430s at a really nice price, and in working order and promptly snatched it up. It has a lot of bells and whistles that are great for crowded frequencies and for blocking out noise toys. It receives stronger than what I am use to and transmits back to most of what it can receive, even on my little wire dipole.

just got the midland 75-822 handheld. So far I've just tinkered with it a little bit. Did a radio check from 100 yards away. Modulation is good at close range. I don't expect much out of it but it appears to be made very well. Now, just have to find out just how easy/hard the channel mod is.

OK, I have been given a iCOM IC-2000H for installation in my P/U. The unit was manuf. in the late 90's.
I think I am going to have to take the test and get my Ham Ticket.

Thank you for the little push, I have been thinking about getting my Ham ticket for a whyle but I am a little put off by some of the local Hams around here, They talk down to my and give me some S--t about my CB being not to type accepted but are running around with Baofang HT's programed for GMRS, and that is also not type accepted, I have been using GMRS since the early 90's and have a Lic. I don't need any one telling me that I'm not legal with my radios by people that are not following the rules that they want me to follow, I sometimes think that I'm gonna do what I want to do and leave them out. There are a lot of "channals that they are not legaley supposed to use, but they do it anyway. Why should I be any diffenent?

The hams and their holier than though attitude and their excesses have lost them a lot of respect in recent years, just like a certain president. Luckily for me, I am not driven at all to get on any government list by buying a ticket. I am happy with what I got.
That being said, I got sidetracked.
I have a new piece of goodie gear on the brown truck. I ordered a Kenwood MC-60A Microphone for the 430. I have read a number of reviews that it is an exceptional quality Mic for the price and I got use to my Astatic desk mic with the 2985. The hand mic is not a strain to use, but with this desk mic, it will be easier to use VOX, the absolute height of laziness.

I got a Superstar (RCI) 3900eghp American Spirit. That's a long radio name. It's got everything except 10k and a freq counter. But I'm running an external ranger. Hopefully I can figure out how to add 10k.
Everyone I usually talk to says it sounds better than all my other radios .

Been awhile since I checked in here, hmmmm let's see..Had the big Birminghamfest a few weeks ago I sold alot of stuff for a net profit of 500 bucks! And I picked up a Texas Star 667V, and a Mod V.
But last night I secured a deal for an unmolested Uniden Washington with matching President side speaker, original mic, and D 104 AND an X-Force 2x4 base amp all for 550.00
Pics to come when I pick 'em up.

Glad you had a good time at that hamfest. I've made it a habit of going every year but managed to completely forget about it this year and didn't remember it until the following weekend. Of course things on my end have been pretty hectic lately.
Haven't picked up anything "new" lately but I have been messing around with different antenna designs. Made a slimjim for 2 meters that seemed to work pretty well.

Not really cb related, but I picked up a new Uniden bcd996xt scanner last weekend for my base setup. Radio Shack had them on clearance. Still learning how to program it.
