After two years of hunting i picked up an older magnum s9 with 1969 finals! the guy threw in a nice barjan antenna tuner and a 12 amp power supply all for 150 $! Rig works great once the clarifier was set it hasn't moved once warm.

Picked up my Galaxy 2547 for $120. It has been peaked and tweaked and additional channels added. Works well! Came with the AC and DC power cables, stock mic, owner's manual and service manual all in the original box.

dirtyjob wrote:thanks Mike but it ended up not so cool, I took my time, used it on rx without the finals engaged, as i didnt have a mic yet, then today i wired a silver eagle to it, followed the manuals tune up procedure and talked on am to a friend for 30 min and then no output, noticed the finals were no longer lit and opened it up to see one of the finals was missing a huge peice..lol
more info in another thread.
Mark, you almost scared me off with this post. Been looking at these old beauties for the last year, but always afraid to pop for one. Me and tubes don't get along very well. But then I went ahead and got one and it's been running fine for over a month. Good strong output on 11M. I watched all the video You Tube has on them and how to tune them and it seems to have been good info, cause it's still putting out good.
Didn't get any good pics yet, but did a video yesterday of it bringing in static. Which was the point of that video, the static. LOL, so here is how it looks.

I hate tubes
Mom and the cat are both on diets now. Hope the desk doesn't give it up. Picked up the FL2000B last year on a Oregon contact the rest from an operator QRZ. Been wanting one of these for years. Well here it all is 100 plus pounds in all it's 1976 glory. FT401B FV401 and SP401A phone patch. The YO100 is a FT101 accessory but looks cool came with the deal. Gonna take forever for a knuckle dragger like me to learn how to tune it all up.

was on my Icom. The beast doesn't have 11 meters in it. Has a place for two auxiliary bands but have to learn how to add them

Take the top cover off, the board for crystals is front right side. I have a 6 inch pair of steel tweezers and if your careful, you can put the crystals in with those and take them out. Or, you could drop one too, in which case, you got to take the bottom cover off, then the outer case. After than you can use your fingers.
Can't wait to hear that amp tho.

Nope not on this one. There is nothing the same on this radio as a 101. Crystals are soldered to the band switch beyond that I don't know.

I just picked up a sweet vintage Shure 55S. It sounds beautiful - much richer than the Rode NT1A I was running before.
