Most recently is a nice but worn President (A-E) Jackson. 1st one I picked up earlier the year needed more work than I could handle. Too bad the band is starting to take its 11 year "nap."

my most recent acquisition is a Midland 13 - 893. it has a lot of mods, a transformer to inject the audio for wideband, can't wait to get it on the bench and play with it. $20 bid price plus 17 dollars for shipping.

I've picked up these lately, and as they say, "Old is GOLD."
Prez Jackson, works great, 110% modulation, AM DK6, swings to 14, SSB 25-30+ PEP and the FC437 came with it!! All nice and tuned, aligned, BUT RX is a little noisy, may have to do the Shotkey diode/ transistor swap to quiet the RX.
A CPI 3 window Meter, has got to be from the mid-late 1970s, works well. I was afraid making the purchase on ePrey, but turned out great!
And an odd ball Radio Shack SWR, Power (peak), and Modulation meter, with original box, directions, and looks brand new!! Works great as well, maybe early 1980s? Anyone else have or used one like this?

Good going on the President Jackson!! (classic) Yep, old is gold...... You have a righteous base all right!
I Just snagged an Eagle Tomahawk 10 meter base station for my wife yesterday for her shack (yup, in her sewing room!)

Thanks for the comeback. It was a risk bidding/buying the Jackson, the seller sold it as-is, and with the advanced age of it, I could have bought a brick, but works well. The Cobra CA50 4-pin mic is also a new addition to the shack. Don't know who made it for Cobra, but the same company made a similar mic for Radio Shack, exterior is different and has a 5 pin DIN plug. Maybe Cobra made them in house, the Radio Shack (21-1171) has "Japan" embossed into the rear case. There is also a CA51 version of the Cobra with a 5-pin Cobra/Uniden wire set up, it's funny that the CA50 only has 3+shield cord and the CA51 has the normal shield, white, black, red and blue wires. The CA50 and 51 mic are sleepers, giving clear clean audio, although, they lacks bass, only drawback is the 7.0/7.5 volt battery they need is hard to source, but buy enough LR44s from ePay and tape 5 batteries together to get 7.5v, solves the issue. I pay 0.35¢ to 0.60¢ per battery if I buy at least 10+ batteries. The mics are fetching top dollar these days, $20+ for a used one, and $40 and up for a new old stock in box.

Do you have a dollar store near by? The one near me sells a sheet of 12 or 18 AG13/LR44 batteries for $1! I was buying them off of ebay too until I stumbled across them in the tool area.

I do, several in fact, but call me king overkill, I get name brand, relatively long exp date, OEM packaging, free S&H for about 27¢ per battery. Plus I am part of the epay bucks rewards program. Usual kick back is 2%, payable on a quarterly basis, 2% doesn't seem like a lot, but have a 1/4 when I'm able to spend a little more (like tax refund season) to get more of a reward, makes it worth it.
I will try out your suggestion tho. I tend to run out of those damned batteries, often when I am between orders.
takecare

I use them in Astatic Minuteman I & II's, the Cobras, and the Radio shack mic. I also have a few Turner mobile pw mics,

Hey Guys..
I picked up a NTM ALS-600 with the switching PS in a trade a few weeks back. I sent the amp to Ameritron to be checked out.
My DX/Contest club ordered 3 Elecraft KPA500's for Field day this year...so I went ahead and ordered 1 as well for my shack.
Looking forward to the summer conditions to improve.

Yaesu FT-8900R, 10m & 6m (fm only . . . practically unused) 2m and 70cm. True dual receiver, crossband repeater, and just a real nice radio otherwise.

Hello all,
I recently moved into our new home and had to rebuild the shack...I hopefully will be getting back into the hobby after only dipping a toe back in a few years ago. I did have to get a bit creative with the new antenna situation, at least for now.. I picked up Sirio A27 Boomerang from **Censored** and I am now just waiting on a jpole dish mount to set it up. I think my next purchase will be a Uniden 980 SSB to replace my quirky TRC449.
Anyhow glad to be back and I am looking forward to trying out my new little low profile antenna.

Well it's gotta be double pleasure to start a new cave in a new house on top of that. You will never give it up, just a break. 3's to you/yours from Georgia Dawg country, good evening.

Just ordered a Tarheel Model 200A-HP Screwdriver Antenna for my pickup with the MT-1 mount. Found a Better RF Co. Icom 7000 Tune Control and the matching Icom 7000 Screwdiver Auto Tuner Control. Searching for info on them while I'm waiting on the brown truck to drop (hopefully lay) it off at the door.

Thanks a lot. The little jpole mount arrived yesterday - hopefully I have the time tonight, after work, to get on the roof and install the little twig.

Just got my overhauled HR2510 back from the "Radio Budda" himself. Any questions PM me WOWWW!!! ......AWESS!!
It sure is a nice radio! I'll post a picture as soon as I get it installed.
Did some serious DX'in this morning.
I bought this HR2510 on
eBay and got jipped.
I eventually sent it to this guy and he had to replace some boards in it, repair the problem and recap it.
Glad I did it.
Sweet waveforms on the scope!

Picked up a new Superstar JA for a C-note. Good stand alone unit for the mobile. No need for a receive preamp. 50w swing on LSB. Took a little getting used to. The clarifier coarse adjustment does the work on tx/rx (of course) and the fine is rx only. I think it's spot on if you just leave the fine at 12 o'clock and dial in the rx with the coarse. Then you can want fiddle with the fine but don't touch the coarse again. Needs a freq counter (and I just like more bells and whistles anyway even if I don't use them).
Pretty hefty mic came with it labeled "Ranger." Now to contemplate a mobile antenna.

I posted this in the shout box but I will post here as well.
We have a Unit that is moving from one location to another and after Final Formation today I took a cruise over to the 30 yard dumpster they are using to toss stuff out. I jumped in and started digging and found :
1 each : 80 feet of RG 213/U Coax with TNC connectors ( I will be replacing those with PL259's )
5 each : H-250/U Hand Mics
4 each : Wave Propagation, Transmission Line and Antenna Manual TC 9-64 (July 2004)
1 each : Antenna Tech Manual TM 11-5995-262-14 (January 1984)
1 each : AN/VRC-12 Series Radio Repair Manuals
1 each : Harris Radio - Field and Repair Manuals
I think that is a pretty goof haul for 20 minutes of digging and I will be going back tomorrow to see if any new treasures can be found.
