FAMILY FIRST ( YA RIGHT )

#218128

Post by Texas Mobil 219 »

I had one of the most kick but jobs of a lifetime working as a welder in a fab shop. The pay was great and even better money if i went to the field to work with double time on the weekends. Not to mention all the THAT A BOYS, GREAT JOB MAN, I WISH I HAD 10 OF YOU I WOULD GET RID OF THE REST.
I got fired last Friday due to a lack of communication in the office side of the company.
I had a family problem come up and need some serious attention. So i tried to get ahold of my Supervisor. With no returne call. NOTHING. So i went by the office and found the Owner of the company. Told him what was going on. He told me that was okay take care of what you need to and return to the shop.
The next day i was still trying to get the issues at hand under controll and email the shop boss and informed him that the issues with the wife still need attention and i will be there in the morning. Yet no return conformation on the email.

So i show up to work that Friday morning. Signed in and was ready to get started. The shop boss came in and said i mess up. I asked him how. He did go into details but it was ovious he new something i didn't. Now the boss of the Catalyst side of the Company came in. We had a chat. A long one. But everything was worked out and things seemed to be back to normal. He told me to get with the Welding Super to find out what was next on the schedule.

Okay here were is get BAD.. I went into the Welding Supervisors office when he got there about 10 am. Went in and explained what had happen and what was going on. He seemed to understand. To a point. So when i asked what was next on the schedule. He said it was time for me to roll up and move on. Man that hit like a ton of bricks.
Its kind funny that now 2 months before that his Brother was hired and put in the shop next to me. You know just to fill in on some work while he waited on his jobs to start back up. HHHHMMMMMMMMMMMM. CHING-ALAY PLAY.

Needless to say im jobless and have been hitting it hard. Man there just no job out there.

Hope its better for you all. Have a great day.

That is rough, especially how it went down. I had a really cool job while in school. Upon graduating, I decided to take a promotion within the same company, to make more money. This was years ago, but I was going from like $9 an hour to $30K, which to me at the time was good money. All was well, and I was training my replacement and he was learning the job. I went to my new position and it paid the money, but was more responsibility, which I knew going in. Not long after entering the new position, I learned that my replacement was making like $38K a year doing the job I'd been doing and loved for years. Oh well. I said something about it, but their excuse was that he was older and had 2 kids. So, basically, since I was young and kid free I wasn't worth as much to them for that job. That sucked but I stayed. From that spot I moved up over the years and eventually moved on and out of the company. Still, an irritating situation thinking about the 5 years I'd done a job for CHUMP CHANGE, as in like $5 an hour for the first few years, starving on noodles and driving beaters. That's business for ya I guess.

Good luck on the hunt. Times are tough, grab the first thing you see that works.

Wow. Sorry to hear that. Especially in these times. I'm just wondering, where was the owner of the company standing on all this? Didn't he give you the OK?

Not trying to tell ya what to do...But Vending company's almost always have job openings! Specially the larger ones! I use to change jobs about every couple of years in the Vending buisness...Quit working for one company, and the next day, would start at another...When times are hard...Vending company's are at there peak. Fewer people "eat out" during lunch hours, and tend to eat more from the machines. (those who still have jobs anyway...)

Smaller vending company's like mine however, may not have openings, since we are small, but the larger ones have huge turn-overs, mainly because they can't find people willing to put in the hours. (or get up early)

Best part about vending...Your always out on the road doing your route, and hardly ever have to see the boss!

just a thought....

Man...oh...MAN! Does that bring back memories. I was working for a trucking company out of Missoula, Mt several years ago. I caught my wife (now the "X") with another guy when I came home. I was empty and home for the weekend...but called in and talked with the boss anyway to tell him that I wouldn't be ready to leave out on Sunday evening because of what happened and I needed to stick around for a bit at the house to get some legal issues straight. He told me that it was no problem and that he understood and to take what I needed off. Well, needless to say...that on Tuesday morning while at the attorneys office, they came and got their truck with all of my stuff in it. I had to drive to Salina, Ks to clean it out....and that was from Jerseyville, IL. Then they put on my DAC report that I had abandoned the truck. A load of bunk!
So...dude...I have a bit of an idea of what you're going through. ....and it SUCKS
Good luck with everything and I do hope it all works out for you. I'm a big believer in Karma. You know...."My name is Earl".

Man that's a bummer. Sorry to hear this. Seems anymore jobs are harder to find anywhere and too many are getting laid off all the time. Hopefully you'll find another job soon and be on your feet. I don't know what I'd do if I were out of the job.

Well i finally got a job. It only pays 8 buck and hour. But at least it a job and i now don't have to take my son off the heart transplant list. The new busness is starting to take and im gettin two to three calls a day. So i guess that will make up for the lost hourly wage. Shoot i dont think i could live off 8 and hour being just me much less four. It will get better tho.

Thanks for all the support and incouragement you tossed my way.
