While you may not want to hear this, I will tell it anyway.

Look to our sponcers, they have a great track record here with sales and service. If you take it to a local shop, you will have to leave it anyway. If you dont have to leave it then I would be suspect of the work performed there.

If you mail out your radio or whatever to someone who will take care of you and send it back the way you want it in almost the same time then you will be happier for it.

Just think, stick it in a box, have mr postman pick it up at your door. When it comes back, comes right to your door, no fuss, no mess, no GAS !

Give um a call and see for yourself

I agree you may not want to hear it but send it out I use Radio Active better to be with out your radio for a couple of days than screwed for a couple of months untill you can afford a new radio .

To avoid shipping costs, I would get on ch 19, mention that you live in that area, and take a couple polls on a decent shop in that area, or the closest available.

Once you get a name, you might bounce that name off the forum to make sure that they do not have a huge bad reputation.

A basic peak and tune on that type of radio is fairly common, but then you can get caught up in the controversial stuff like cutting limiters, modulation kits..etc and that puts you at the doorstep of a pathway of headaches that many of us have already traveled.

A more solid move would be to ship your radio to someone that has a very good reputation. I think Thumper knows of a very good tech that will work on that one.

Is there a chance that you might be planning to get into one of the big chassis radios?

If so, you might skip the peak and tune on this one, and spend all sorts of money like the rest of us!

Granted though, a local peak and tune is your biggest bang for your buck for now.

Let us know how it goes, and what you find out.

Good luck!

I am with everyone else on here, I would go with one of the sponser on here ....it may take a day or two longer but I think you would be happier in the long run.....I have heard good things about CB City ( sponser of this site) so I would check there .....but I understand your desire to find a local shop. There are no real CB shops around here so I do all of my business online .
