I was taking car of my wifes attention deficit disorder ( You know, the one where you aint spending enouth time with her ) for mothers day and did get on the forum for a min or two and saw that DX was rolling. My grandson was over with us and my son came by to pick him up. I was tellin him that skip was rollin in and he wanted me to show him. I fired up the base and heard Texas, Chicago, Porto Rico, Jamaca, North Carolina, etc. We tried a little bit to connect but no luck.

A little later my son was on his way home and decides to listen in on 6 and keyed up. What do you know, a guy in south GA hears him and responds ! Calls his handle and says the signal is weak but he could just hear um !

The thing is, My son ( In one of my work trucks ) is on a bone stock Cobra 29 ( No peak or tune ) with a K30 mag mount and a Astatic 636L.

Just goes to show ya that you dont have to have all the big toys to make it happen !

I'm beginning to think that our area here was more in the receiving side than transmit cause I heard quite a few BIG Georgia radios that never could make a contact. I only made 1 and I tried for nearly 3 hours. Oh well.
