I was sitting in my front yard (in my truck), playing with my new Magnum S9, chatting with some drivers about 20 miles away. I was thinking to myself, “How cool is this? A radio that can walk the walk and talk the talk!”

I decided to flip through some channels. I heard a guy named “Beavis” out of Tennessee fading in and out. I thought, “What the hell. Give him shout.” Son of gun..he responded. We talked for a couple of minutes, then he faded away.

I gotta say…That was my first long distance call, and it was FUN, FUN, FUN!

Skip is funny stuff. You never know who’s gonna give you a high five!

Can't wait for the next skip! :-D

Same thing happened to me last night driving home from my mother's house around 10 pm. I was on the local channel around these parts and heard one of the guys talking to northeast Texas. I figured why not see if the old General Lee can make it to Texas.

I gave him a shout and he answered back right away. Said I was sounding good. I was surprised because I was driving through a heavily wooded forest preserve area when I made the contact. I thought the trees would have blocked my signal.
