I've got to figure out where the good skip is on my radio . I'm still learning the function's of this radio . but have to fix my antenna or replace it . took it with me to work yesterday and just lisented and got a bit of side band coming in but after i installed it i tried swr checks and they were high but not much . still not going to use it till i figure out why the swr's are so dang high .

When skip rolls in many freqs are really good. Alot of people enjoy 26.915. I'd not suggest getting to serious for ssb mode on a galaxy 88. These chassis excel on AM mode. Most use the 88 h/l on chns like 26.915 when shooting low band skip. As most export galaxys drift in freq too much for normal ssb use.

I had another mag mount in my shed it's almost new and it's a better seal for the coax . so i went ahead and placed it on the cab of my truck and checked the reading's on AM mode Ch's 1 , 19 , 40 All 1.1 or just 1 . that's pretty good for a 64 inch whip from radio shack and a left over mag mount i had stored away .
RA I'll go find that AM freq you'r talking about and see what kind of trip i can make .

checking the freq's and came across a local that was shooting skip up to denver,co well i tried shooting skip up that way but not making the trip . but i chatted with a local from Apache junction and he stated i was Loud and pegging his meter to the edge . i told him i was on a Galaxy 88 H/L and he said you got that from Radio Active and i said yes and he just commented on how the galaxy radio's kicked butt . i remember he has a 99V as a base and using a antron 99 . Handle was DutchMan ....well at least I'm able to get my signal out just need to shoot skip for other places . btw: ch's 1 , 19 , 40 are all 1.1 SWR went from a steel whip to a fiberglass no need to cut that it's fine like it is .
