Ground or No Ground

Ok I've got a major issue that I'm dealing with seem's that i can't get my tool box grounded very well or the metal is to worn for a proper ground for my mag mount . i ran a swr test on my galaxy 88 and the calibrate was good but the swr shot up past 3 almost in the red . I'm not sure what the problem is . maybe it's the whip still to long or a bad ground I've set up . I've got 10ga wire running as a ground from the tool box to the frame of the truck and no good at all . maybe i should go to the cab instead . BTW I'm away from any power lines and both door's are shut .

sounds like the antenna mount could be bad

I kind of thought so the way it's been acting . but i couldn't tell for sure without checking and re-checking the reading's . well i won't be using this radio till i get a new antenna .
