Friend Shows Up

A very close friend of mine that drives for a living is here at my home 20 till monday night . we were discusing radio's and i showed him my radio and he showed his it's a RCI 6300 F150 and he said it swing's 170 watt's dead key he bought this from a tech in PA . then i told him i got mine from RA and it deadkey's 40 then he showed me a cobra 25 that he had tuned/peaked/swing kit put in and it dead keyed 50 . i asked him how that could be and he told me that a tech from PA did it something about galaxy hot final's . so i'm sending my cobra 29 ltd with him to be fixed

Galaxy HOT final is a 2sc1969, older cobras had them, if its a single final you won't get 50 watts, all 29's are single final, you might get 30 watts PEP from it,,remember alot of techs have loose meters, I have an old meter that I could adjust and show a Cobra 29, giving a false reading of 55 wattts....hope that helps, they call super tune when you put a swing kit, big final and peak in a cobra 29,,,the Ranger Radio - RCI6300F150 is a hot radio, for sure

i wonder if your friend is taking your radio to the same tech i use? if he is the meter is not "loose" he sends it out for calibration every couple months. if you can talk to your friend ask him if its going to wise communications in hanover pa. the guys name is Al, aka t-bird on channel 8.

1 of the guys from work just had a cobra 29 done there a couple months ago and was getting around 30-35 watts, not sure about key and swing, or which is which, but thats not to bad from a 29.

He is from Dubois,Pa .....He didn't say where the tech was at but he told me the guy could make the radio swing 50 watt's . he had his 29 in the truck and i looked at it and used it and it walked the dog . I glanced at the antenna and it was a wilson 5000 mirror mount .


Anyway he'll be back my way in a few week's with my radio.
