D&A Falcon 400
Came out of a 50's model IH semi. The original paint is non-existent but the tubes inside look new. Also came with a buttload of 6LQ6 tubes. Being as this is a mobile amp, would it be financially acceptable to convert it to a base setup or should i just sell it? Also, the tubes are NIB...or what's left of the original boxes. Thanks for any info anyone can provide. I really have no use for a mobile like this, so if it doesn't make sense to convert it and anyone is interested.....feel free to PM me.

Well, how many tubes are in the amp?any tube amp is worth the time to re-build/restore.u can always build an power supply for it and run it base.and they are sure sweet in a mobile set-up.dont draw near as much current as the s/s amps.

Re: D&A Falcon 400
There's 2 6JT6's and 4 6LQ6's. I'd be interested in knowing how to convert, then i can run this and my Palomar 90A together.

Re: D&A Falcon 400
It can be done, but its gonna take a decent power supply to run it. A 2x4 6lQ6 should get ya about 500w if they are all in good shape!! I am going to PM you....

Re: D&A Falcon 400
Change the power tranformer in it to one that has a 120vac primary then you wouldn't need a 13.8vdc 100amp supply.Aviator wrote: I'd be interested in knowing how to convert

The only other thing that will have to be done is to change the HV rectifier in that amp from a fullwave bridge to a fullwave doubler which is easy.
