I figured it was time to start a log up of all the contacts i make on the airwaves and a general day-to-day log.
5/4/2011 -
Today I made a few good contacts. Talked to the local 189 on 35 Lower for a good two-three hours. Made a relay contact to a station down by the Airport in Pittsburgh. My transmit was able to get to him but i couldn't hear him. Gotta get me a pre-amp.
Finally made one of the contacts I have been trying for since i setup my base. Made contact with 93 Stratman aka stratman56. That's one off the list of several.
Next up for a contact is the 928 Montana aka atfguy.
Why is it that Schools and the fine state of PA cant just leave well enough alone? I had to take a test today that JUST came out. Lord i hope i did well on it. Anyway back on the subject of Radio's. Does anyone know of a good Multi-band Beam antenna that will cover a good bit of the ham bands aswell as the cb bands?
Thanks for reading my random babalings.
73's to you and God Bless.
Respectfully,

I have been looking at the Cushcraft A3S tri-band beam for 10-15-20m. You can also get an add on kit for 40m. Not sure if it will work on 11m with a tuner or not but I was kinda wondering the same thing. Warning.....not cheap.

A Good antenna isnt going to be cheap. if i can take the 10M side of it and covert it to 11M i would buy it in a heartbeat though. Maybe ill experiment with making my own antenna.

I talked all over Florida and to the locals i always talk to. Talked to 675 down there, He had one good sounding radio. was hitting me with a good 20+. Talked to 687 Aviator another good sounding radio. Finally made another contact with 93 The Stratman, got him on a video gate. Ill post the video gate in the Watergate section of the forums. I am glad I made contact with who i did. When i first turned my radio on it was deader than a door knob. Left the radio sit there and warm up so it would be on frequincy. Once i did that i came back and man skip was rollin like never before. I waited till it was somewhat quiet and hollered out there with my numbers. Man i had every station in Florida comin back to me that had there radio on. I was really excited about that because the day before I got my antenna about another 10 feet higher. Being in this valley must have some kinda weird effect on the way my antenna radiates.

hi pa bull winkle, i will suggest adding some kind of groundplane to your antenna ,, it may help with your recieve , becomes sensitive to the weaker signals out here. and add as much hieght as possible , every foot counts. what are you at now?

ill take pictures of my antenna and post em up. im probably at about 20-30ft to the base of the antenna. i agree on the groundplane for the antron 99. Do you know of anyone who makes one other than the one from solarcon? theres is pretty pricey.

One of these days I'd like to contact you on the air, hehe. being on the other side of the state. I wounder if a ground plane would work for your receive? Either way, I am following your thread.
