Re: stumped on turner
I'm assuming the modulation is fine with a stock mic I would check the mic cable could be a bad wire inside of it or the connection to the mic plug for a lose, broken or shorted wire.

Re: stumped on turner
its not the radio i may try and replace the mice cord a second time as i had also replaced it but never tested the mic before it was replaced . but i have the wiring diagram and know that the replacement was done right but it was a used mic cord . don't think it could be anything else...

Re: stumped on turner
ya never know wat yer gonna get with a old used mic.
sometimes, guys re wire the inside to get it to work on their radios.
if you can find a mint condition turner mic, just copy all the wiring , wire for wire .
test the element as well.
if that dont work, then its something in the circuitboard.
Ive rebuilt a few Turner Plus 3's.
had to figure out why one worked and the other didnt.
i even jumped wires from the PTT switch to the circuitboard just to get audio.
