Re: Power mic?
Hello litng1. 3ZERO8 is correct. Most power mics are supposed to increase the audio of your radio on transmit. If you do not notice any changes, you may be able to adjust the "modulation" of the power mic by disassembling the mic and turning the "screws" on the mic's circuit board. You should use a new battery for your power mic. Also, make sure that your mic gain on your radio is completely "clockwise." Hope this helps.

Re: Power mic?
Sometimes locally a power mike may sound rough but if not terribly distorted it will sound fine in DX or distance contacts by punching through the QRM.
Usually you have room on the microphone or in the radio to adjust it as mentioned above. Some people add components to the microphone or radio to make audio stronger or softer.
Hope to catch you on the airwaves or on the forum.

Re: Power mic?
A good power mic can do a couple different things, it enhances the inadequacies of an inexpensive audio circuit. It does make up for a low spoken voice, can add bass to a tinny sound, and when adjusted properly will make a radio sound great or maladjusted sound like crap. What mic did you get anyway.
