I have the macom mb-4000 desk mic that I bought from buxcomm right down the road me, and I have the TRC-431 Navaho
that is requires audio, shield, ptt, and a recieve line but I can not find one for this mic. I did install a external 9v battery for the power side of it but it will not transmit when I press the the key it does key the radio but no modulation what gives?
Hello phantom 861,
Check the spelling and see if it isn't a Maxon MB 4000, it should have of had a connector that looked like a phone plug on it. Go back to buxcomm and see if they have a schematic for it. From what I could find it needs a foot switch FS XX-01 to work.
Looking at the schematic, the cord does have 6 wires but the green and black are not connected in the mic itself. Looking at the switching there is no prevision for connecting either wire to the switch to make it work on an electronic switching radio. The red wire is to draw 8v from the radio to power the mic which is normally the case with ham radios. The yellow wire is for the PTT switch (TX) only. To get it to work on your radio (TR-431) you will have to fabricate a switching box or completely rewire the mic with a different switch.

That's exactly right.
The MB-4000 microphone will only work with a radio that uses relay switching for changeover between receive and transmit because it uses a SPST switch for the PTT.
If you want it to work with electronic switching like the 431 has you'll need to change it to a SPDT switch and a wire will have to be added to the switch.
