Sun spot is going up (179+) since last night. Take advantage quick, it will not last. 10 meters last night till 10pm local time, with a sirio ground plane up 125 feet icom ic 7000 cw mode 100 watts. Stations heard Guam, a bunch of japan ops. 2 Philippines stations. Brazil, Venezuela, Argentina, Asiatic Russia. Australia, new Zealand and it goes on, I manage to work Guam iota expedition from Germany they have been here a few months already 28.004 split 2 up, also work new Zealand 28.009. Japan 28.0012. Solomon islands 28.005. I also realized this is ten meters and whatever happens here happens on 11 meters as well. The band is wide open just because you don’t hear anybody does not mean is dead. Just get a nice quiet frequency and call CQ on ssb a few times. You working with a beam tried the long path and short path towards the pacific. Lots of South America dx coming in all day. Solar cycle should be coming to an end soon work that dx while you still can.

I've heard (and worked) several European and Asian stations lately on 10m phone. 100w works just dandy. I haven't run an amplifier on 10m in allot of years now. When that band opens up, it's just not needed...even with a simple little vertical. But when it's done, man it drops out like a ton of bricks too. Heck, wasn't even like grayline DX...just dropped faster than it appeared (at least here).

Congrats on the CW contacts. And a little info' for those freebanders on the forum of why it's important they don't move so close to 28.000 MHz. Allot of hams still run down in the CW portion toward the bottom of the band. Splatter on them and you may attract unwanted attention. LOL

i know what you mean but cw is very narrow you could probably run 10 cw qso”s on a regular cb channel spectrum. And would not qrm each other. This is why my main choice is cw. no big power is needed and the language is all universal cycle 24 is really surprising me solar report from wm7d as follows Highs for Cycle 24
Flux: 190 - 24 Sep 2011
Sunspots: 228 - 22 Oct 2013
Summary for the past 24 hours:
Space weather for the past 24 hours has been moderate.
Radio blackouts reaching the R2 level occurred.
Forecast for the next 24 hours:
Space weather for the next 24 hours is predicted to be minor.
Geomagnetic storms reaching the G1 level are likely

with these readings and prediction with the sunspot count 228 will it keep going up? if it does then we still have lots of time to set up a dream station and work some of the rare dx. before the bottom is reach. time will tell.
