Predator 10K
Predator 10K
Well i have been trying to decide between the Predator 10 and the Monkey Made MM9 and leaning more to the 10K (like the weight difference and it seem to come up more than the MM) Just don't know what shank length to get will be running it on slip seat truck with a fire breathing 95T2
Thanks for any advise
Thanks for any advise
personaly its all about prefernce, the monkey made and the 10 have little differnce to me, thay bough have good ears and TX verry well...
the 10k is verry light weight and is also more suceptable to damage meaning you can damage it easy. the parts are easy to come by and cheep and the whole antenna brakes down so you can just replace one part. if its magnet mounted there a real BISNATCH to tune.
the MM. durrable auluminum takes a licking and keeps ticking takes alot to damage it and if you do you cant replace parts as easy as you can with the 10k... you would have to buy a new antenna if you smash the coils.
personly to me there both the same you sacrafice one for the other and thay even out in the end... no differnce to me, ive run both and i get out as well with the MM as i do the 10k and recive the same... its all about personal prefernce.

On a truck, if your going to be mounting on a mirror bracket, I would also sugest the 12" shaft (Predator 10K), and if over-all height is a problem, then go with the Dual Coil 10K.
I have had both the Predator and the Monkey Made antennas, along with a host of other antennas of similar make and style.
The Predator 10K is one of the light'est antennas of it's type on the market. And just because it's "Light-weight" does not mean it's a light-weight antenna, as for as durability is concerned.
Yes, you can bend the coils out of shape hitting tree's and things, but they can be strigten back out, by ajusting by hand.(in most case's)
Now if you have a low-flying Red-tailed Hawk fly into it...You will need to replace the coil and shaft! (Trust me...I know from experiance!)
On the Predator 10K everything on the antenna can be replaced with-out haveing to buy a whole new antenna. And the Predator 10K is the "ONLY" Anternna of it's kind, that you can do this with...
Each part screw's together, and parts can be bought from most Predator 10K dealers.
You bend or break something on a Monkey made, or Mr.Coily, and your going to be either buying a new Antenna, or sending it back to the manufactor, for repaires....

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

All the Predator 10K antenna's come with a 65" stinger. Regardless of the length of the shaft you order.Rocky Mountain Oyster wrote:question....how long is the stinger on a 10K w/22" shaft?
And all of them will need some trimming, in order to tune the antenna.
So there is no real way of saying "How long the stinger will be, after you get the antenna tuned."
Depending on what, and where, your going to be mounting the antenna. Will determan how long the stinger end's up!
But, generaly, on a single coil Predator 10K, regardless of the shaft length, the over-all height of the antenna after it is tuned, will be somewhere around 70" from the top of the antenna mount.
Dual Coil 10K's will be 6" to 12" shorter....(give or take, depends on which set of coils you get)
