What Mode
What is the prevalent mode for shooting skip nowadays? Back when I was active it seemed to be a toss-up between SSB and AM here in the Pacific Northwest.

Re: What Mode
Definitely SSB, channels 36 to 40, mainly LSB but you sometimes hear someone on USB. AM is the rest of the band. Now talking on the "Freeband Frequencies" it is whatever you want to use.

Re: What Mode
Ssb here as well, 36-40LSB. It's fun to make contacts with a stock radio and a home brew dipole

Re: What Mode
Ditto on SSB. Anywhere from 27.385 to 27.495, LSB.
Re: What Mode
Ssb has always been the easy route. Several years ago the bottom side of 28 & 26 am (can't remember the freq) were hopping but they've been dead as of late. I like ch 28 but it takes a little heat if conditions aren't in your favor. Ssb was never really appealing to me.
