Well I finally got an antenna , I got the Maco V 58 5/8ths wave , it's only up with the groundplanes just clearing the eaves , but when the weather gets nicer I plan on putting it up around 30'.
I got some contacts from Texas , Florida ,California and Louisiana and it was nice to finally get out.
I dont know why but I never really had any luck with talking skip on my homemade wire dipole , but thankful for the help I got from some of you guys here.
I went on a 20 year hiatus from the radio and restarted with an ole Courier Centurion with the dipole just inside the house , then it ventured outside and I was talking on a TRC-453 40 CH. SIDEBAND.
I wanted to start out small , just in case radio was "dead" but lo and behold it is still going strong , now I have a nice Kenwood TS440 sat hooked up to RG8x coax and into the groundplane.
It can only go up from here !! next item is a Turner Plus 3 desk mic , next antenna will be a Shooting Star and keep the groundplane off the side .
I'm having a blast talking around , there are a few locals that get on at night so all in all it's going pretty good.
So if yuz hear 243 Southern Ontario callin' that will be me. 73's guys 243 is on the side.
