ive been reading reviews on both kenwood models, im looking to buy one brand new but am still undecided so I am gathering opinions from anyone that happens to won one or both of these models, I dont really care about 2 meters as I have an ft897 that i use for that, I have read from many reviews that the 590 has a better rx than the 2000 is this fact or fiction? I have also read on the eSSB sites that the 2000 is better to work with for that than the 590.

We just had a local here have the same choice to make. He went with the 590 because the receiver quality is far superior to the 2000. The 2000 is a nice rig because it's an all in one box but you'll suffer in HF quality. Just my two cents. Good luck with your choice.

Hi sly, this is exactly what i have been hearing and reading, and since I already have a rig with 2m I dont really need that, I am however interested in eSSB and from what i am reading the 2000 is pretty easy to set up for this being reported as Kenwood TS2000 – TX to 3.5K, RX to 5K where the 590 is reported as The TS590 does sound nice EQ’ed but is limited in TX to 2.9K and doesn’t make the cut.

well i went with the ts590 because its newer technology, good reports/reviews and its a dedicated hf rig where i already own a hf/uhf/vhf rig.

placed my order today :

TS-590S KENWOOD HF Transceiver
SP-23 KENWOOD Matching Extension Speaker
WS-PR40 HEIL Windscreen for PR40
PR-40 HEIL BROADCAST+RECORDING STUDIO MIC

i LOVE TAX REFUNDS :compress:
