Prangster on 38LSB

There has been a prangster on lower 38 sideband lately who broadcast constantly blah blah, blah blah blah and so on. When the skip is running here in Washington he comes in pretty strong. Does anyone know anything about this other than me and some of the guys whom run lower 38. He needs to be shut down and evidently is running quite a powerful base. Please help if you can, report him etc. :bounce:

There are grown children playing on just about every channel and if you think going Ham will be better, there is a bunch on there too. Best thing to do is to ignore them, acknowledging them just feeds them into keeping it up.

I think you are talking about "BLUE WAFFLE"

Luckly, I'm too close and have only heard him one time. BUT, I can hear all the other folks that he has pestered to the point of no return...........

IF you are refering to the blue waffle, just google his name. Blue waffle is located in NE Texas between Texarkana and Dallas.

Well it is true then, some people definitely did not advance in school to the next grade level because the teacher did not want them in the same class as their parents. I hope they shut him down. He is just annoying. :bounce:

Agitators on SSB seems to be getting more common. Guys like this can't keep their heads above water on AM so they take their nonsense to SSB. I guess when skip is rolling its too noisy for them to harass truckers on 19.

Ivan from coal country Canada was harassing a lot of stations earlier today. changed his name but it was him doing the usual stuff picking fights with everyone and bragging about his power. it was atleast something to listen to for a little while. nothing like a good fight on the radio from stations a thousand miles apart.

Heard the blah blah blah guy today also everyday is the dweedlw dwoodle noise maker that just goes on everyday all day. Reporting won't do any good. Harbor freight has a good deal on cable to take an antenna for a walk.

That's the best advice. Soon as I hear those knuckle heads, I just find another channel. It just makes me appreciate good operators that much more.

I've been hearing bluegrass playing every day for the past month on ch28. It comes and goes. I'm in Arkansas and heard it's probably coming from Kentucky. I guess that would be fitting.

The one I usually hear is the person with the noise toy. Sounds like heterodyne increasing then decreasing in pitch. He does it just long enough to key on operators then lets his amplifier cool. Then he repeats the process.

38 has been nothing but bag pipes or something close to it today on my end. Hasn't stopped for the past hour. don't see the satisfaction of abusing your equipment just to let the world know what your iq is. guess they have their reason.

Ignoring them is the best advice on how to deal with those trouble makers, no doubt about it. The more attention or acknowledgment they get or hear about (either real or imagined) the more they will persist. Eventually, they will get board with it and move on to somewhere or something else if the "public servants" don't put a stop to it first.

Anyway, when that happens and my ears are too plugged from the trouble or QRM I just give my call numbers clearly and say QSY to what ever channel or frequency, mode etc saying all that at least 2 times.
If conditions are right; I make contact somewhere.

There are allot of powerful stations. In fact, many aren't running any more power than most people but have superior antenna systems up in the air. Combined with a few hundred watts a good beam antenna can cause all kinds of interference in DX land.

A few long term solutions might be as follows:

1.) Ignore them and try to pull out your contact under them.
2.) Pretend (if nothing else) they are not jamming you and ghost talk if need be (this really gets under their skin)
3.) Get more frequencies in your radio(s) and start freebanding (at least a 7kc slide and go between channels)
4.) When DX is rolling get off the most congested frequencies
5.) Shut the radio off and go do something else

Those are the things I do. I freebanded for allot of years and done in moderation, allot of fun. Common sense rules when out of band though...abuse it and you increase the chances of meeting Uncle Charlie. In fact the best contacts and QSO's I've made on 11m were done freebanding. You'd be surprised at how much activity there is even between channels (i.e. 27.380kHz, etc.). I used to talk to our friends Down Under almost daily mobile on 27.370 kHz in fact. 5kc's on SSB can make all the difference in the world.

Pretty unlikely anything will ever be done about the adolescents so you might as well learn to adapt. Either that or be held hostage to others dictating your radio hobby fun.

Ivan has changed from Fooouurrtyyy one to "needlebender 68" Funny thing though, he can't disguise his voice. The more he drinks or pops the worse he gets. One day he is preaching and talking about God the next day he is calling every one a f**k.

Just get a pair of pruning shears..... *sigh!* The jerk would just repair his coax and get worse!

Freebanding is what I do, or just turn the radio off for a while.

I do agree with what 231!!

We found a very crude "ratchet jaw" on CH38LSB and on the AM............. As soon as I found out he was a trespasser on an "enemy's" land ; *my enemy and I came to a very quick truce*. We take care of this problem one and for all or our wives would have our butts!

The ratchet jaw was gone from his "camouflaged" tow-along camper..... We came equipped with grappling hooks to pull down his antenna and a tractor to tow the camper to a dirt road well over a mile away from there. (sheriff's impound lot where last seen)

 He never came back, and my former enemy and I buy an occasional beer for each other to reaffirm our truce under the steely gaze of our wives.

We do not hear that awful dude on the radio anymore.... DID HE LEARN HIS LESSON?? Probably not......... :icon_rolleyes: :icon_rolleyes:

Well, in Wyoming that is the way we handle it   I do not know how you folks handle it.... BUT some guys are real STINKERS!!
