Welcome to the forum. I don't recommend doing the swing (NPC) kit to the 2980, it can be done but unless you have the proper equipment (scope) to tune the radio all that will happen is you will see false readings on the meter. That radio performs extremely well with a good tuneup and alignment. A better mod would be to install a MD-1 (Top Gun Modulator) and add a switch to turn it off when using SSB mode. JMO.
