I have a wilson 1000 with the short loaded whip and I have a little problem ....SWR's on ch20 is 1.1 on ch 40 and 1 it is 1.4 ....why am I not able to bring it down on 1 and 40 ? If I move the whip up or down it will help one end but hurt the other ....so what can I do to improve the SWR?
Nope I hadnt thought about it ....it is on a Dodge Durango, I have it pretty much in the middle so I will move it around there a little bit and see if I can find a sweet spot on it ....I was figuring center would be the ideal place to have but you never know , I might put the big stinger back on it and see if it helps it also
I would go with the longer stinger, that lower load may be to close to the ground plane causing you to have alot of reflect, which will effect your swr's. I was having this problem w/ my 10K had to get a longerr shaft to raise the coils up farther away from the roof.
Shane, I have the same antenna and Dodge Durango 2000. The 62" whip that came with the Wilson 1000 mag, the best way I could get the swr down from 1.5 to 1.1 was when I brought a 66" whip cut off about a half inch and that solved my problem. My antenna sits 20" from the front rack going towards the front of the truck. I hope this helps good luck.
