Re: Cobra 2000
I have never tried to put talkback in a cobra 2000 radio. 99.9% of people run a power mic on base radios and talk back does not do well with a amplified mic. like I stated I have never done talk back on this type of radio.

after doing a on line search it looks as if you have to short the audio and ground on the front speaker jack from what I found. some have had talk back and found a washer on the speaker plug on the front shorted. that would give them talk back which they wanted to turn off. so looks as if you could do it in reverse from what I read.

Ok I will see if that will work I definitely have to put a variable in it though

Re: Cobra 2000
do a google search and you should get the same info I did last night. they talked about a fiber washer that insulated the phone plug on the front and the washer would be broken or missing from what few I read. if I had a base with echo in it I always have another radio set up to listen to how the radio sounds. when in the house I would just set up a little hand held to set the echo if needed and turn it off when talking so I could turn the mic gain up if using a power mic or stock mic. most of my radios I use a noise canceling mic on them since I turn the modulation up by changing resisters and caps in the mic circuit for audio increase.

If you want to hear what you sound like on the air build one of these, [Please login or register to view this link] , it only works on AM but that's where the majority talks. It is a nice thing to have if you do a lot of bench work.

Re: Cobra 2000
Could I use a 4001 diode
Re: Cobra 2000
It won't hurt to try but I don't think it will work in such a low current circuit. Just about any small signal diode will work.

I don't know if I have anything here that has one in it. I have a hard time reading what number is on them is there an easy way to tell

How about a 4148 diode

Re: Cobra 2000
Wait a minute.....diodes have numbers on em? I know this might sound like a dumb question and this is an old post but I have never seen these numbers. I always depended on the package they were in.
