Tried to get a contact, but the signal was in and out. I think I may have made contact, but my Walkie is no match for the DX world. I did pull out my GE mobile and the best antenna I could find at hand only to find out I have to solder stuff left and right to have a reliable setup for even fast DXing. At least I'm getting things together instead of having them all over the place.
I also found out that I have lost a couple of pieces of equipment due to corrosion and abuse by people who can't understand the need to be careful with radio equipment. Well, maybe the soldering iron and my skills as an electronics technician from 7 years in the Air Force will come back to me to be useful in getting things back in shape.
So, not to go on and on. Watch the bands carefully as an unnamed Propagation website was reporting poor conditions, but I found some Skip.
