I'm trying to figure out the best antenna and spot to mount it on our RV. The radio is a Bearcat 980 with an RM Italy.

Ok after some research you need at least a "No ground plane antenna" Fire stick makes a good one .As for where? Your bounder is already tall .I would put it in the front someplace. You probably have to make a hole someplace.Thats the research i saw anyway
Keep smiling ...It makes people wonder what your up too !

Re: 97 Fleetwood Bounder
I do have a Firestik Firefly that we had on the Wrangler and the SWR was at 1:1 w/o the RMI running and 1.3:1 with. So I should be good once I figure out the best spot to hit metal and what kind of mount will work for this thing.

Re: 97 Fleetwood Bounder
I don't think the FireStik Firefly will work well on a plastic vehicle like your Bounder, like 295 said a "No Ground Plane" antenna would be best. There is a couple on the market, personally I shy away from FireStik brand but if that is all I could get then I will use it. Getting a NGP antenna usually the only position use is on a mirror mount outside the drivers door/window. Follow the instructions, and don't cut any extra off the coax.
