148 GTL SSB Freq Drift

#42209

Post by darkside »

Hey what should i do, when my 148GTL get warm and I'm on ssb it starts to drift off freq not alot but it's noticeable. It has gotten bad one time that it was hard for anyone to understand but of course once we re-tuned it, it was fine but it still drifts. Is there anyway to put a small fan in it and how should i hook it up? And Should a fan run when you key up or when the radio is on? :?

Hey thank you anyway I think someone tryed to adjust the radio using something metal now i don't know if it's true but a few hams tell me that sometimes that can cause a radio to act up in someways. It's a good radio don't get me wrong, just running bearfoot on a good ant. at work we've talked to a guy out of Iowa, IL which is about 75 miles from us.

My 148's do that once they are warmed up. But typically the temp in the rig is below 70*F or so. It's not uncommon for them to drift a kc or so when they warm up...especially if the clarifier is tied. Personally for me it's never been an issue over the years. Especially with the good ears mine have. It's a small price to pay IMO.
