Electret microphone?

#392405

Post by Panic! »

Greetings! I've been looking for the replacement mic for President radio, and got some difficulties. There's a lot of info about dynamic replacements, but lack of electret microphones. I found some positive feedbacks about Uniden BC-645...
Could you advise me please some more reliable variants of electret microphone as a stock replacement?
Thanks!

Just about any aftermarket microphone will work on a Uniden radio as long as it is wired up right, remember that pin #6 has power (voltage) to it so on a regular mic don't try to connect that pin. One of the good things is if you can figure it out a power amplified microphone can be wired to that pin and then it will never need a battery.

Thank you, Greg.
As for the amplified mics, RF limited Xtreme is a very interesting one, but I don’t need echo features.
I wonder, if there any simple, rugged and reliable mic in a form-factor as BC-645, or DNC-520?

RF Limited 2018 Mic's are probably the best Mic's to come along in the past 40 years or better....so sad they quit building them..

But as for the "echo" features of the 2018, you don't have to use them...You can leave the echo off, it also has a noise canceling and Talk Back feature that can be turned On and OFF....

NOS 2018 Mic's are getting harder and harder to find, and when you do fine one, most are going for double or triple what they did a few years ago.

Hm... Checked its dimensions, it's really big. My hands are not big, but Astatic 636 feels good and quite comfortable. On the other hand, RF has different, really boxy form, and I'm not sure if button is convenient... It's a pity I have no opportunity to check it.

Not sure what you guys consider "BIG", but the RF Limited 2018 is pretty close to the same size as a stock Galaxy Mic...It is a little heavier than the Galaxy stock Mic, because it has a 9v battery inside...

And compared to a Road King 56, still close in size, same height anyway...The Road King 56 however is a little thicker than the RF Limited...I seen there's some listed as "NEW" with free shipping for $68 on the auction site...
