Amp cooling in trunk.
Ok heres the scenario. I am putting a Texas Star DX 1200 in the trunk of my car which is a 1998 Buick LeSabre and wondering how to keep cool. You put fans on the heatsink to cool it but where does that heat go. In summertime the trunk is already a boiling pot and amp just makes it hotter. How do you cool a trunk?

Wouldn't worry about it...it's not alive and breathing!
I have mine inside a metal toolbox in back of the truck, and never had a problem. ..been in there for years now.

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

totally agree, just bolt it down so it has a decent amount of clearance around it, mount three 120mm fans on the heatsink.you can even get the cover with the 2 holes in it if you want for even more cooling, 5 fans total. its not a tube amp so heat dissipation should not be a real problem.jessejamesdallas wrote: January 3rd, 2019, 11:51 am Wouldn't worry about it...it's not alive and breathing!

Hello,
If your dx 1200 has a fan kit, don’t worry about it. But make sure you charging system is in good shape. A motor ma#ul and extra battery’s. Just a two pill will draw 50 amps! Or more. Solder all your connections, 8 gage stranded wire. Starving the amps is as bad as getting hot! It’s unbelievable how many amps these things goble up. My 4 pill eats over 120, all by itself!

Re: Amp cooling in trunk.
Gonna put battery in trunk with a 200 or 250 amp alternator. Prolly run 1 gauge to rear battery
