Anyone ran a DX2000L???
I have a guy here close to me selling a DX2000L. I am pretty sure it is a clone of the L4B Drake. I can only find limited information on it online, and really only on the eham website. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with these and if they are really a full clone of the Drake. I have an L4B and an L7, so maybe this one could be a back up, or parts donor some day? Its too good a price at 400 to not check into it. Heck if the 2 3-500z's are good, they are almost worth that if they are matching. Thanks for any feedback!!
Cheers!!
Cheers!!

Re: Anyone ran a DX2000L???
heres a pic of the rig I'm looking at...
its a little rough on the exterior, but is supposed to work very well. Verified by a friend of mine that has seen it swing almost 2k PEP with the right drive. (too much drive if you ask me)

Re: Anyone ran a DX2000L???
I looked and didn't find anything. It does resemble a Drake or it could be a Heathkit SB 1000 clone, probably used Heathkit parts to build it. Having 2 3-500z's did move the transformer out of the case, that kind of puts some very dangerous voltage/amperage in a cord. I'd have to see inside, that would give me more of an idea on who made it.

Re: Anyone ran a DX2000L???
I agree MDYB. Seeing inside would tell the tale. I meant to look last night to see where the drakes were manufactured, since the DX2k was in Colombus ohio. As far as the HV in the cord, I'm kind of used to that with the Drake L4b, but I agree its something that has to be taken seriously. I've actually been bitten by my L4b, lucky it didnt kill me. So long as the cord is not frayed and the HIGH VOLTAGE connector is in good shape, I should be ok. If I got it I would buy the rebuild kit for the PS. I'd say it's the same as the PS-4 drake PS. Thanks for lookin!!! Find out anything else please do share!!
