As far as the solder, i use a 40/60 rosin core. Any good desolder tool will work. Remember, you get what you pay for. And solder wick is just another way of removing solder.

I have a 30 year old RS desoldering iron that has a squeeze ball, if I remember it is a 45 watt iron. There is a few like it still on the market,, google would be the best way to check them out. I have used the vacuum tube type also, looks like a syringe, it pumps up and stick it in the melted solder, push the release and it draws the solder up in the tube. I like the squeeze ball better.

BTW,, sorry for the **Censored** word.

I finally got a combination solder - desoldering station. The next re-cap job..... I almost cried wondering why I waited so long. But I have them all, the pump, the wick, the bulb iron and the vacuum station.
