Texas star Modulator Plus low output
Got a Texas Star Modulator Plus that the 2290 was shot, I just replaced it and with a stock Cobra 29ltd I am only getting like 10 watts out, with the amp powered off I get about 3.5 watts with just the radio passing through the amp while off.
Kinda not sure where I should be looking on it before or after the 2sc2290.
Schematics and it's not the V, just the Modulator plus [Please login or register to view this link]
Any help much appreciated.

Did you replace the little 10 ohm resistor?
If the transistor was fried, chances are that resistor is too...

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

That, the switching transistor, and the diodes.

10 ohm resistor good but D2 when I went to unsolder one leg to test it broke in half. Schematic say 1n4148 but that is not what was there. looks like it might have been a 1n400x series. I'll pop one and tomorrow and see where we're at. D1 good . Still have to check q2.

Still at 10 watts. Q2 transistor is good but leaking about 25 microamps on the transistor tester.
Is it possible Q2 being leaky, never mind q2 is the RF preamp only I should be checking Q1. Followup.
