Not a problem. Lots of us do that. Now what type of antenna do you plan on using?

That all depends on your situation. Will it be mounted outside? Or do you live in a HOA and want to put something up in the attic? And how much money is in your budget? If outside, will it be on the roof or a pole/tower.

A Patriot 12' is pretty easy to put up.

I have used an inverted V Di-pole on my roof as well. Works pretty good.

Right now, my best antenna is the IMax 2000 up about 38 to 40 foot.

Best of luck finding the best to work for your situation.

Mike

There is a book called:
"The Truth About CB Antennas" by William Orr and Stuart Cowan
copyright 1971 and paperback

Lots of antenna info in the forums and radio reference.com and other places.

Here's a great quote from it:

Mine is cut for the middle of the band, ch 20 which is Frequency: 27.205 MHz
Total Antenna Length ("L"): 17 Feet, 2.4 Inches
Element Length ("E"): 8 Feet, 7.2 Inches

Now if you want a different freq, google Dipole Calculator.

The cheapest way to go would probably be the Dipole. Then you dont have to worry about taking it down.

I just string it at roughly a 45 degree angle from a 2nd floor deck to ground.
Deck railing is wood.
Put an insulator between real 'dirt' staked other end and the 'dirt.'
What I appreciate about the Falcon vendor is that they
(at least the used to - have not bought one for mebbe 8 years)
sent along all the different typical configurations used when 'dipoling,'
along with the associated pros and cons.
Of course, the above 'configurations' information pros and cons are 'out there'...
I just appreciated the convenience of them sending along a hardcopy description of their own,
I spose.
P.S. Looks as tho my previous post Link disappeared....
you may well have already found it....
if not by going to Amazon and doing a search on "falcon cb dipole" you will see it.

This antenna you might get a workable SWR for maybe a couple channels, the dipole that everyone is referring to would be a lot better both receiving and transmitting. Once you get on the air you will be checking out the sponsors for bigger and better. The antenna is the heart of a radio system, coax is second. Over the years I have learned not to go cheap with the exception of building your own.
